When can I make changes to my health and dental insurance?
Open Enrollment is a time where you can enroll, drop or change your benefit elections without having to experience a qualifying event. Open Enrollment is October and November each year for a January 1 effective date. Qualifying Events allow eligible participants and dependents to enroll or request changes to plan elections outside of our open enrollment period. Qualifying Events include: birth, marriage, divorce , adoption, loss of health coverage or death. Requests for enrollment and/or changes must be completed within 30 days of the Qualifying Event. Call or email the Insurance Department to make these changes.
I finished the school year but I won't be returning in the fall, when will my insurance end?
-12 Month employees- 6/30
-10 & 11 Month Employees- 7/31
-9 & 9.5 Month Employees- 8/31
I recently divorced and my ex-spouse is on my health and dental insurance. What do I need to do?
Your ex-spouse is no longer eligible for coverage, and their coverage must end on the last day of the month the Judgment of Divorce is filed at the Courthouse. We will need a copy of the Judgment of Divorce emailed to the Insurance Department.
I recently moved. How do I change my address with UMR?
Active employees will change their address using Frontline. Once your address is updated in Frontline then Human Resources, Payroll and the Insurance Department will all be notified of your address change and make the appropriate updates.
I'm a new parent. How do I add my newborn to my health and dental insurance?
Your newborn must be added to your health and dental insurance within 30 days of birth. Call or email the Insurance Department.
What happens to my health and dental insurance once I resign?
Health and dental insurance ends the last day of the month you resign.
When do my kids age off my insurance?
Your kids may remain dependents on your plan until they turn 26 years of age and are covered through the last day of the month they turn 26.
Who do I call if I have questions about health claims?

Who should I call if I don’t receive my UMR insurance ID card?
Call UMR directly at 1-800-363-9150 to request new cards be mailed. You may also go to UMR to create an account and print a card.
Do I have the option to keep my health and dental insurance if leave the school board?
Yes, COBRA gives former employees and their families who lose their health benefits the right to choose to continue group health benefits provided by their group health plan for limited periods of time under certain circumstances such as voluntary or involuntary job loss, reduction in the hours worked, transition between jobs, death, divorce, and other life events. The coverage must be applied for within 60 days of the date that your coverage terminates. To inquire about COBRA and COBRA rates, call or email the Insurance Department.
